What an SRT file actually is

SubRip Text is the simplest subtitle format in use: a numbered list of cues, each with a start time, end time (HH:MM:SS,milliseconds), and the text spoken in that window. Plain text, no styling, readable in any editor — which is exactly why every video tool, platform, and player accepts it.

What makes a generated SRT good

Three things: transcription accuracy (wrong words are worse in captions than anywhere else), cue timing (text must appear when the words are spoken, not roughly nearby), and cue length (more than two lines on screen and viewers fall behind). SRT vs. VTT — which one do you need?
